Cavalier Athletics

Hello Serra Family!

We are excited to start a new school year! As we kick off a new year of Junipero Serra High School Athletics and it should be a fantastic year for each one of our programs. The foundation throughout all of our sports programs is that each of our teams will compete at the highest level and represent the Serra community well.

The success of each program is the result of the hard work that the players put forth on the field, court, track, weight room, and in the classroom. The student-athletes here at Junipero Serra benefit greatly from the amazing coaching staff in each and every program. In all programs, the student-athletes learn teamwork, discipline, dedication, preparation, and hard work. These lifelong skills not only benefit our Serra student-athletes in their sport but in school and will prepare them for life beyond Serra.

My Coaching Experience:

  • Head Freshman/JV Boys Basketball Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach at El Monte High School from 1997-1999
  • Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at West Los Angeles College from 1999-2001
  • Elementary and Middle School Athletic Director/Head Coach for various CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) Sports from 2000-2014
  • Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Los Angeles Southwest College from 2002-2005; 2021-present  
  • Head Boys Basketball Coach at Mary Star High School from 2009-2012 
  • A member of the BCA (Black Coaches Association) 
  • Coached at multiple basketball summer camps throughout Southern California (UCLA, USC, UC Riverside, CSU Long Beach, Westside Extension (West L.A. College), and Yorba Linda)
  • Coached in the Nike "Say No" Classic NCAA Summer League
  • Helped matriculate over thirty (30) plus student-athletes to colleges/universities and currently still assisting student-athletes to reach the next level

My Education Background:

  • Attended Catholic elementary school & graduated from a Catholic High School, St. Bernard High School
  • A graduate of CSU Dominguez Hills - B.A. in Political Science and Minor in African-American Studies 
  • A member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated 

I am excited about contributing to this rich history of the Serra Cavalier Athletic Program by working with the coaches, students, & families. I look forward to seeing you at each one of our program games as we continue to grow, compete, and represent Serra High School this year. Go Cavs!
