Serra High School hosts TACSC Student Leadership Day

Gardena, CA, May 6, 2013:  Serra High School, in partnership with The Association of Catholic Student Councils (TACSC), hosted a full day workshop on building leadership skills. In attendance were 5th, 6th and 7th graders from St. Frances Cabrini, Our Lady of Guadalupe (Hermosa), Maria Regina, St. Odilia, St. Raphael and Transfiguration, as well as the high school student leaders from Serra and other high schools involved in TACSC.

TACSC and Serra student leaders conducted small group workshops such as “Becoming an Effective Communicator”, “On the Clock: Tips for Better Time Management”, and “Servant Leadership – Serving Others and Serving God.” Students on the whole also took part in a Leadership Challenge similar to the “Amazing Race” and a team problem-solving activity.

The student leaders running the event have been involved with TACSC since middle school, some for over four years. They see these workshops as a continuation of the skills they learned, as well as a way to give back to the upcoming leaders in middle school and high school.

The next event will take place at Holy Family High School on May 17th. Schools can register online at www.tacsc.org.
