Gardena, CA, October 17, 2012 - Twenty-six year-old 2012 MLB All-Star center fielder Andrew McCutchen graced the Serra Cavaliers baseball diamond Wednesday and was enthusiastically embraced by the Varsity and Junior Varsity players. At 5’ 10”, 185 pounds, McCutchen, who plays for the Pittsburgh Pirates, stressed to the Cavs the importance of hard work in all aspects of life, both on and off the field.
He fielded many questions from the Serra High School students in attendance, and the questions ranged from his personal training and discipline to specific technique. When questioned about hitting, he stated, “Prepare your at-bat in the dugout and the on-deck circle, study the pitcher, then relax when you’re batting.”
McCutchen expressed love for his family, friends and a financial adviser to keep him well balanced. The Cavs thank Vic Butler and salute Andrew McCutchen for the time spent with the young teams.
