From June 27 to July 2, six Junipero Serra High School students participated in the California Youth Think Tank, a leadership training program for middle and high school students. Jordan Phillips, Anthony Hatten, Matthew Golden, Dominique Hales, Amber Mack and Aaron Sanders joined other students from over 200 schools statewide to take part in intensive workshops and training sessions geared towards preparing today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders. Highlights of the week included workshops and lectures from USC alumni, counselors, and student mentors.
Since 2000, the California Youth Think Tank has served a population of students between the ages of 13-18 that is ethnically, culturally, academically, and economically diverse. The program primarily targets youth from low to moderate income households in underserved communities in the Greater Los Angeles area.
